HSEG, a unique and independent group, comprises over 40 distinguished senior leaders with extensive experience in various sectors of the homeland security enterprise – defense, law enforcement, intelligence, Congress, industry, and academia.
Originally established as the Aspen Institute Homeland Security Group in 2009 and later affiliated with MITRE from 2019 to 2023, HSEG has played a pivotal role as a trusted advisor to senior government leaders and a crucial platform for key stakeholders and influencers. Notably, HSEG members were instrumental in creating the Aspen Security Forum. Our flagship event, the Homeland Security Enterprise Forum, serves as a unifying platform for leaders from the public and private sectors across the nation and the domestic national security field. In an era of heightened political polarization, HSEG and its members have consistently advocated for open dialogue and pragmatic approaches to America's most complex national and homeland security issues.
Mission
HSEG strives to invigorate conversations, elevate them above partisanship, and integrate recommended solutions into the homeland security enterprise.
Vision
HSEG is a collaborative network of public and private stakeholders that brings together respected leaders and experts from government, academia, and the commercial and not-for-profit sectors.
HSEG generates knowledge, educates on important homeland and national security issues, identifies barriers, analyzes accomplishments, and provides independent and non-partisan information to many entities, such as the Secretary of Homeland Security and other policymakers across the homeland and national security mission areas.
